Lifestyle: Do you use dating apps?

The occasionally scary world of dating has obviously changed in recent years.

Many people now download dating apps to try and meet no people. Let's have a look at people's views on this.

We asked several people what they thought of it.

Liam, a 28-year-old male from Oldham, said: "I don't mind it. It's increasingly becoming the way that people my age start new relationships."

Sophie, a 28-year-old female from Rochdale, said she doesn't like it and prefers "to meet people the old-fashioned way."

Becky, 35 from London and recently divorced: "I'm enjoying them. I've not been on the dating scene, and this has been the easiest and most fun way of doing it."

George, a 35-year-old Railway worker from Somerset, told us: "I've been married for six years. If I was single now, I think I'd struggle with the dating scene. It all seems really awkward compared being introduced to a new partner by friends or family."

Philip added: "I have been married now for six months and met my wife in Hinge just before lockdown. I don't think that I could have been able to find a partner had it not been for all the dating apps."

What does the research say?

Research from YouGov has suggested that Tinder is most popular amongst millennials. Over 34% have a positive opinion of it. That doesn't seem a lot. However, it is still a relatively new way of dating, so it's expected that this will only increase.

Where would you take a first date?

Our food articles might provide some decent options. If you live in Newcastle, you might take a date to the Peace & Loaf restaurant. This place serves creative, artfully crafted British cuisine in a sleek, bare-brick restaurant with a mezzanine floor. If you live in Manchester, you might visit Rudy's. Everyone loves pizza and their pizza is incredible.
